THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GAME
Earlier in the game, CSK won the toss and went for bowl first. Dhoni and co started brilliantly reducing Bangalore to 39/4 after 8 overs thanks to a great opening spell by Harbhajan Singh who was also the man of the match and who finished with 3/20. The RCB batsmen had a poor shot selection on a track which gave an opportunity for a great purchase for the spinners. Parthiv Patel was the only batsman to record a double-digit score for RCB as the spinners wreaked destruction. It’s a scrappy start for RCB in IPL 2019.
THE TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Harbhajan Singh’s early spell and selection done by Dhoni’s team were the definite turning points of the game. Harbhajan sent back Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers by wicket out while giving away just 20 runs in his 4 overs. Bhaji’s spell leaving RCB reeling at 39/4 after 8 overs as on his last ball even Shimron Hetmyer was run out.
THE BEST BATSMAN OF THE MATCH
Despite the failure of his teammates to cope up with a spin-friendly track at the Chepauk, Parthiv Patel showed great composure at the finishing with 29 off 35 balls.
THE BEST BOWLER OF THE MATCH
While Harbhajan’s magic spell in the field gave an early burst and put CSK firmly in the driver’s seat, Tahir’s spell broke the back of the RCB batting. Still, the spell caused by Tahir was absolutely dominant as he got the ball to turn sharply keeping batsmen guessing with his variations. He finished him over with figures of 4-1-9-3 with a breathtaking wicket-maiden in the 14th over.
